Mandatory Training for Working with Animals

Training Requirements

The employ of animals in inquiry, testing and teaching is subject to a multitude of laws, policies, regulations and standards. Two such laws/policies include the Creature Welfare Deed (AWA) and the Public Health Service (PHS) policy, which require all inquiry personnel be appropriately trained in animal care and utilise. Any person who will handle, manipulate or perform procedures on alive vertebrate animals (whether in the laboratory or in the field) must consummate a two-step process, which involves:

  • Footstep i – Enroll in the HealthPoint Occupational Health Program (OHP) and
  • Pace 2 – Complete the web-based training modules.

Check Training Records

To access the AALAS Learning Library, you lot must have an EID and countersign to log into eProtocol IACUC. On the upper left-hand side of the main page under the "eProtocol Menu," select "Investigator." A menu will pop out. Select "AALAS Learning Library."
